Matt's parents invited us to go along with them to Goldfield Ghost Town up in Apache Junction. Of course we accepted, and loaded up in their Explorer!
It's about an hour from our house (everything's about an hour here!), so not too long of a trip. And it's at the base of the Superstition Mountains, which are breathtaking!
Once there, we filled up on some yummy grilled food (girls: grilled cheese, me: hamburger, Matt and Ervin: bratwurst w/chili fries, Sandi: grilled chicken sandwich). Then we started moseying around and checkin' stuff out. We didn't get to see EVERYTHING there, which is fine, we can go back another time. But we saw quite a bit. Took some pictures.
Went through a reptile exhibit, which was nice to show the girls (and me!) what a REAL rattlesnake can look like (so many different colors!) along with other critters!
Took a {SLOW} train ride around the old town. Took some pictures.
Shopped around the fudge shop/bakery for a minute before going "underground". Sierra was {LOUD} to say the least, and expressed often how she didn't like it in the dark!
Took a tour of the "Mystery Shack", which is a house built slanting two different ways....makes you a bit dizzy! (Note: the warning sign stated those suffering vertigo shouldn't go through it, and the guide said that if you have to ask what vertigo is then you don't have it! LOL!---I'm thinkin' I shouldn't have went through it.)
There were also live gun fights, a blacksmith place, a church, horse rides, a jail, an antique photo studio, and lots more. But it was getting toasty, and we were getting hungry for some ice cream, so we loaded up and headed to Dairy Queen for some cool treats! :)
It was a fun day to be able to just spend time with his parents out and about. I'm sure we'll have more adventures with them in the future too!
Thanks so much for inviting us, Ervin & Sandi!!!
