We'd been waiting for this time to come for two months now. We just bought that popup camper, and have had plans to put it to good use already. First trip: Moab, UT. Matt has a couple of aunts and uncles that live there....one set we've seen (but 11+ yrs ago), and the other I've never met. All of them had never met our girls. We also wanted to check out some of the surrounding scenery AKA be tourists. Plus, it's only a 5 hour drive from us! (I know, it's amazing that we don't have to drive 12+ hrs to get to our vacation destination for once!!!)
Our first night, we planned on staying just near the CO/UT border, in Rabbit Valley (Exit 2 in CO). After a little gravel road driving, and some "High Clearance Vehicles Only" signs, we found an awesome camping spot. Nice and secluded, with a beautiful view. Lots of great trails for hiking, biking, and four-wheeling. *Oh, and those "warning" signs weren't warranted....unless it would have been raining....THEN the ruts would have been enough for only the high clearance vehicles.
The next day, we headed for Moab. We stayed the first two nights at Canyonlands Campground, which has a playground, pool, and all the amenities. And the next two nights we camped out at Ken's Lake....dry camping.
During the days, we checked out Arches National Park, went fishing, and just hung out as a family. In the evenings, we went and visited Matt's uncles and aunts at their houses.

At Uncle Terry and Aunt Cathy's house they have a small Min Pin named Zipper (AKA Stinky), a cat named Cozy, and their grand-dog Rottweiler Lokey (sp?). Sierra could not get enough of Zipper and Cozy! Yet when she wanted to hold her, Zipper would nip or run or squirm away! It was hilarious watching them! And of course, both girls liked to chase the cat around and try to hold her. They just don't understand that cats like to be left to themselves. :)
At Uncle David and Aunt Marian's house, the girls got a kick out of their exercise room and equipment! LOL The rowing machine, balance ball, elliptical, weights, bungee bands....you name it, they were in heaven!!! The night before we left, they were in the backyard, and they found a wild baby bunny under the hammock swing. Sierra picked it up, then it flinched, and she dropped it. She was SO upset for the rest of the night, saying she "wanted to hold it for longer!"
We had such a great time. It was a wonderful vacation, and we all can't wait to go back. A huge thank you to the uncles and aunts for inviting us over and having dinner, and just plain having fun together!
Sierra wants to see Zipper, and Ashlyn can't wait to go to Sand Dune Arch again.
Here's some more collages of our trip! Enjoy!
