Ashlyn and Sierra on Christmas Eve 2009

Matt and Kristen on Christmas Eve 2009
This year was busy for the Christmas holiday for us. On Christmas Eve, the Lakeman's were heading south from Elko to our house. Around the same time, we were heading south from our house to Matt's parents' house in Florence, AZ (about 2 hours south of us). This year is the first Christmas that Matt's dad has been home (Stateside) in a few, so we made sure to make it special for him to have family around. So we had a nice time at their house on Christmas Eve, and exchanged presents with them.
Matt's parents with their puppies
They got us a family gift: a Wii and some games to go with it as well. So we'll be adding to that for sure (Matt actually just went and bought himself a game--Call of Duty-- tonight)! We made it back home about an hour before the Lakeman's showed up at our house....good timing! And you'd think that after the long day that we all had had that we'd just go to bed....NOPE! Not until around 1:30 in the morning (except Ashlyn, who konked right out around 11 so Santa would come).

On Christmas morning, we had our traditional Christmas breakfast: Stickybuns! YUM!
This was AFTER, of course, opening the presents first! The girls both got a bike (trike for Sierra) from Santa and Sierra is totally attached to hers! Ashlyn got a ton of stuff, but she prefers to play the Wii (of course!). They both got a dress up kit from the Lakeman's and they both love to put on the dressed and shoes and pretend they're queens!

After all the presents were opened we decided to get ready for the day and then head down to Gilbert, AZ to Jared's house (about an hour away). We thought that everyone would be there but at the last minute they changed it to Christmas Eve since everyone was starting to get sick/colds. So we missed out on that family gathering, but we were still able to spend time with them for a few hours and then go to dinner at an Asian buffet (yep...just about the ONLY open to eat, but that's okay because they're Asian and we like Asian and American food that they served!) We couldn't stay too long after eating because Kristen had to work early the next day.
But on Sunday, Jared came up and we got family pictures up here since we're all together this year! We all can't wait to see the results...and how many Sierra actually behaved in! LOL! What can you expect...she's not a ham like her older sister who just kept posing for the camera when it was pointed her way! Too fun!
After pictures we went home and cooked a big turkey dinner, since we didn't have one for Thanksgiving with all the family. Jared, Victoria and the boys came up and ate with us, which is always nice. They always love eating good American food that we (Matt) cooks, and are planning on being back on Monday for the ham dinner we have planned as well!
We're just happy and feel so blessed to be able to have our families here so close at this time of year. We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and will have a Happy New Year!
