Since we hadn't been camping ALL summer, and Ashlyn starts second (yes, 2nd....that's another story!!) grade on July 25th, Matt decided we should take a camping trip. And not just to Payson or Greer or Woods Canyon Lake....nope....all the way to the Rocky Mountain town of Buena Vista, CO! It was a scenic drive (for the most part....have you ever DRIVEN through New Mexico?!?! LOL!), and the girls did really well. We split up the drive (to and from) and stayed the night in Gallup, NM. We camped out the remaining of the trip in our "Hilton" tent...a 10'x14' w/ a large screen room....oh, and our 2 queen sized air matresses. :D We put the doggies in a kennel (Preppy Pet Suites--they love them there after this trip) so we didn't have to worry about them while we were exploring. We toured around the little towns up there...Buena Vista (8,000ft.), Salida (7,000ft.), Leadville (10,200ft.), Climax (11,360ft.), Dillon/Silverthorne/Frisco area (around 9,000ft.). These are all near Vail and all those nice ski resorts (that we would know nothing about since we don't ski/snowboard! hahaha!). I've put together a few collages in Picasa to add to my "scrapbook" and to share on here some tidbits of our vacation. It was nice to get away from the 108 temps w/ mugginess for some 83 degrees which felt like 95 or more at those elevations!
