We are now all moved in to our house in Dillon, CO, after living temporarily in an apartment in Leadville, CO. We are all happy to not have to go up/down 4 flights of stairs to get to our place! :)
Well to begin, we left AZ for CO on October 19th. The company (Freeport McMoRan) put us up in a furnished 3bd/1ba apartment in Leadville for a month. (Meanwhile, Matt and I had found a house for rent in Dillon....a lower elevation and a bigger town. Happy mommy= happy family. LOL!)
While in the apartment...on the third floor...Chloe learned how to go up and down stairs for the first time....THAT was interesting. I think she's glad--like the rest of us-- to be done with the stairs again! The complex had a playground that we went to nearly every day so the girls could climb and a get their energy out!
The first of October, we moved into our house in Dillon. It's actually kind of like a duplex (in a way)....it is one big house (4800sq.ft.) that is separated into 4 separate living areas. There is a 1bd "upstairs" by us, and our "middle" part, a huge studio and another (not sure of the size) living area just beneath us.
The company movers delivered our goods, and setup our beds. Boxes, boxes EVERYWHERE! Then the unpacking....so...just imagine what the aftermath of a tornado would look like...and that's what the house looked like for the first week! It's still a work in progress, but for the most part, things are unpacked. (Can we say TOYS?!?!)
Ashlyn started back in school about a month after we pulled her from the school in AZ. Lucky duck! :) (School started a month later here anyways, so no biggie!) We tried to get her into one of the higher rated schools here, Summit Cove Elementary, but the 2nd grade classes were already full. (Open enrollment.) So, we went with the school right up the street from our house (like a 5 minute walk MAX.), which is a dual-language school. English/Spanish mix each day. It's only been a week, and next week are the Parent-Teacher conferences, so we will meet with her teachers and see what they say and also ask them a few questions that we have so far.
The climate is definitely different than what we just came from in AZ. It's still close to 100 there...while it's barely making 50 here some days. It snowed a couple of inches the first week in our house, and the girls can't get enough of the cold white stuff! Chloe, once again, encountered something new (snow) and didn't know what to do so she just stood still when we would take her out to go potty. LOL She has now gotten used to that though, as well, even if it has melted for the time being. :)
Matt is liking his new job as the IS Supervisor, and is doing quite well at getting everything going that needs to be done at the mine. But he has been working a LOT to get things in place before the snow flies DUMPS...176 hours in the first two weeks we were here with him.
We have ordered a bunch of warm and cozy winter items (thank you L.L. Bean and Columbia!) so we should be prepared for the cold winter ahead....for the most part! LOL!
I have pics of the house inside and out, but it's still a mess in here with all the toys everywhere and a few boxes that need to be put in the garage (which is another story....it needs to be shelved and organized too). So pics will come on another post.
